ChilliAire™
The rack is the containment aisle.

The ChilliAire™ product system improves the existing rack airflow by literally changing direction! Using smart physical connectors and managed, redundant fans, the ChilliAire™ system links existing data center raised floor air flow, through the bottom of the rack, directly to the front of the rack.

Our ChilliAire™ system includes a solid, front transparent door that pressurizes the cold air directly in front of the servers. We also supply foam seals and blanking plates to separate the front, cold side of the rack from the rear, exhaust side.

At the rear of the rack, we have an exhaust chimney system that actively removes all of the hot air. By combining the two sides, ChilliAire™ creates a push/pull airflow that is capable of:

  • Up to 18Kw of Server power
  • 95% server density in the rack
  • Reducing data center airflow demand
  • Fits into the vast majority of existing data center racks

Raised Floor Input System

Shown below is the complete floor fan stack unit that links the raised floor air flow directly into the front of the rack.

Raised Floor Input System Components:
  1. Fan grille to prevent items from entering the rack.
  2. 850 CFM fan.
  3. 850 CFM fan.
  4. Surface fan mounting plate.
  5. Telescoping sleeve rack to fan interconnect.
  6. Airflow diverter.
  7. Wire cover.
Included, but not shown:
  • Dual redundant speed controllers
  • Fan monitoring and management computer
  • Air flows from the fans (2,3) and out the diverter (6).

The bottom of the steel surface fan mounting plate (4) rests directly on the data center floor tile. Parts 1, 2, 3, & 7 are hidden under the floor tile. The air diverter (6) and telescoping connector (5) are attached to the rack before it is moved into place over the mounting plate (4).

Key features of the input air system:
  • Dual, redundant in-line fans.
  • Dual, redundant speed controllers.
  • Remote Ethernet management and monitoring of fan speed.
  • 120W max power use.
  • 120 / 230V options.
  • Raised floor unit extends 7” into the floor.
  • No tools required for installation into a cut-floor tile.

Overhead Plenum Input Air System

When the data center supplies an overhead cooling plenum, this unit is available for the top of the rack. Shown below is the complete overhead fan stack that links the overhead plenum air flow directly into the front of the rack.

Overhead Plenum Input Air System Components:
  1. Solid connector for Flextube link to plenum
  2. 850 CFM fan.

  3. 850 CFM fan.
  4. Fan speed controller.
  5. Fan speed controller.
  6. Airflow diverter.
Included, but not shown:
  • Fan monitoring and management computer
  • Air flows from the fans (2,3) and out the diverter (6).
Key features of the input air system:
  • Dual, redundant in-line fans.
  • Dual, redundant speed controllers.
  • Remote Ethernet management and monitoring of fan speed.
  • 120W max power use.
  • 120 / 230V options.
  • Overhead unit extends 9” over top of rack.

Overhead Exhaust Air System

The ChilliAire exhaust system pushes the hot air directly into the ceiling of the hall. For optimal efficiency, the top of the exhaust fan stack can be linked with flexible HVAC tubing to any standard CRAC air return system. Shown below is the complete overhead fan stack that extracts the hot air from the back of the rack and sends it out the top.

Overhead Exhaust Air System Components:
  1. Solid connector for Flextube link to plenum

  2. 850 CFM fan.
  3. 850 CFM fan.
  4. Fan speed controller.
  5. Fan speed controller.
  6. Airflow diverter.
Included, but not shown:
  • Fan monitoring and management computer
Key features of the input air system:
  • Dual, redundant in-line fans.
  • Dual, redundant speed controllers.
  • Remote Ethernet management and monitoring of fan speed.
  • 120W max power use.
  • 120 / 230V options.
  • Overhead unit extends 9” over top of rack.

Air flows from the fans (2,3) and out the diverter (6).

ChilliAire™ – Superior Rack and Server Cooling with Existing Infrastructure

With the ChilliAire product system, we can now modify existing data center racks for maximum efficiency, connecting to standard data center CRAC systems, and without adding a liquid cooling infrastructure of any kind.

  1. Transparent Door
  2. 40 Rack Units of Servers
  3. Cold Air Diverter
  4. Intake Fan System
Requirements for overhead cooling environments:
  • Three rack units of space at the top of the rack.
  • The top of the rack must be open or the top cover must be removable.
  • Five 120V or 230V power outlets available for fans and management computer.
  • Existing doors must be replaceable with solid doors.
Requirements for raised floor cooling environments:
  • Three rack units of space at the top and bottom of the rack.
  • The top and bottom of the rack must be open or the both covers must be removable.
  • Five 120V or 230V power outlets available for fans and management computer.
  • Existing doors must be replaceable with solid doors.
